The Sports Institute is proud to welcome Darren Blue and his expertise in the development and training of hockey  in the Mankato area.

  Former MSU defenseman Darren Blue is in his ninth season with the MSU coaching staff.
A member of MSU hockey teams from 1991-95, Blue spent the 1999-00 season as an assistant coach/interim head coach of Bozeman of the America West Hockey League. 
  The East Grand Forks, Minn., native tallied three goals and 35 assists for 38 points in 90 career games with the Mavericks. A two-time team captain and two-time recipient of MSU's Unsung Hero award, he earned the Maverick Achievement Award as a senior scholar-athlete and was also a member of the MSU men's golf team. The 1996 MSU grad served as the head coach of the Chisago Lakes (Minn.) boys hockey team from 1996 through 1999.
In addition to on-ice and recruiting responsibilities, Blue handles much of the men's hockey program administrative duties. He has also served on staffs at several USA Hockey select camps. Blue and his wife, Jen, reside in North Mankato.
